A former contemporary dancer with companies in Canada and Europe, today Francisco serves as Managing Director of the Institute for Contemporary Culture at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). He holds both BFA and MBA degrees from York University and has years of experience as a cultural administrator and communications leader. Past professional employment includes: Director of Communications, ROM; Communications Manager, Alliance Broadcasting; Special Assistant - Policy, Ontario Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Francisco also has extensive volunteer board experience with non-profit organizations in the dance, film and LGBT communities.
Bob Johnston is former Executive Director (1999-2009) of Cultural Careers Council Ontario, which addresses human resource issues in Ontario's cultural sector. He has thirty-three years of experience as an arts administrator. He was General Manager of The National Ballet of Canada from 1979 to 1996. Prior to that he served for three years as Deputy Minister of Ontario's Ministry of Culture & Recreation. Before entering the cultural sector he held positions for twenty-five years in human resource management in government and industry, serving as: Ontario Deputy Minister of Labour, Chairman of the Ontario Labour Relations Board, and Director of Industrial Relations for John Inglis Co.
Louise Garfield is a veteran of the thriving cultural scene in Toronto. Her varied backgrounds in film and television, theatre and dance as a producer, writer, performer and choreographer (notably as a founding member of the feminist lip-sync artists The Clichettes), lend her administrator's eyes a distinct sensibility. Her film producing credits include Zero Patience and The Hanging Garden. Dance is an abiding interest for Garfield. She was Executive Producer for three award-winning dance films: Dances for a Small Screen, In the Hothouse and Tell Me Everything. Louise is the Executive Director of Arts Etobicoke.
Selma Landen Odom, Professor Emerita at York University, is a dance historian and writer. She was Founding Director of the first graduate program in Canada to offer the MA in dance and PhD in dance studies. Her articles and reviews have appeared in many publications since the 1960s, and she has contributed chapters to several books and reference works. She co-edited the anthology Canadian Dance: Visions and Stories (2004) published by Dance Collection Danse Press/es. Her research focuses on teachers and oral transmission in twentieth-century dance and music. Current writing projects include a study of people and practice in Dalcroze Eurhythmics.
During her illustrious twenty-year career as a principal dancer with The National Ballet of Canada, Nadia Potts performed throughout the world in all the major roles of the ballet repertoire. She has also been partnered by many of the most renowned artists of her time such as Mikhail Baryshnikov, Peter Martins and Rudolf Nureyev. Nadia has taught at Canada's National Ballet School, the Banff Centre, York University and George Brown College, and has conducted numerous master classes and workshops. In 1989, Nadia was appointed Director of Ryerson Theatre School's Dance Program. Nadia's book, Betty Oliphant: The Artistry of Teaching, was published by Dance Collection Danse Press/es in May 2007 and is in circulation internationally.
